Dreaming, 2009

As is my custom, I spent some time gazing at my Christmas tree, dreaming of the life I want in 2009. Some of the things I dreamed of for 2008 came true, and some are still in progress, and some, well, some are almost forgotten, like the ugly ornament my mother-in-law gave me that dwells at the back of the tree, where no one can see it.

I definitely need to be better about updating all of this in 2009 – and I need to find a way to keep it at the forefront of my mind. Many other things occupy that space, but the things I want deserve equal billing. I have learned that, in order for my focus to be sharp, it has to be narrow. I can’t do everything. I have to do what is most important.

So…here we go…the goals/dreams…more specific things will be on the Visioning 2009 page.

1. Health – In 2008, I lost about 25 pounds. In 2009, I will lose twice that. I dream of loving my body…and weight is the thing holding me back.

2. Writing – In 2008, I had 2 amazing ideas for novels. In 2009, I will finish one of them.

3. Home – In 2008, I got rid of stuff. In 2009, I will paint and furnish the downstairs to suit our taste and lifestyle – casual. family-focused, friendly and welcoming.

4. Church – In 2008, I found a wonderful church and got involved, met friends, developed a deeper relationship with God than I ever imagined possible. In 2009, I will join the missions team and go on a mission trip, and I will give a set amount each week.

5. Friends – In 2008, I made an intentional effort to see and keep in touch with girlfriends. In 2009, I will expand that circle, and I will plan activities on a regular basis to grow my relationships with these special women. I will be open and trusting, not so guarded.

6. Updating my progress – In 2008, this was sporadic at best. In 2009 I will update on the last day of each month, documenting what progress I’m making towards living the life I dream of.

What will you be doing in 2009 to make your dreams come true?
